Additional Monitoring Components

Monitor APIs, IPs and ports next to your domains.

Every plan includes extra monitors for the services your sites depend on, from 5 on Free to unlimited on Enterprise. Paid plans add third-party API quota monitoring, so a Stripe or GitHub rate limit does not run out silently.

What can Additional Monitoring Components watch?

Five component types, each with its own interval, timeout, regions and alert contacts.

What can you set on each monitor?

Check interval

How often the component is checked, up to your plan limit.

Timeout

How long to wait before a check counts as failed.

Monitoring regions

Check from the regions your plan includes.

Alert contacts

Choose who is told when a component goes down.

Slow-response alerts

Optional alerts when a component answers slowly. They also reach webhooks as monitoring.slow_response.

API quota alerts

Threshold, forecast and anomaly alerts for third-party API quotas, on paid plans.

Content Monitoring is for domain monitors only. Setup steps are in the monitoring docs.

How many Additional Monitoring Components does each plan include?

The same component types on every plan, with a higher limit as you grow.

How does API rate limit monitoring work?

Aepto sends a light authenticated request on a schedule, reads the vendor's rate-limit headers and shows how much quota is left. It then discards the response body.

  • Providers include Stripe, HubSpot, Shopify and GitHub. Add any other API as a custom API with a probe URL and token.
  • Alert on a threshold, a forecast or an anomaly.
  • Cards show exhausted, recovered, throttled, auth-failed and signal-lost states.
  • Check intervals run from about 5 minutes to several hours.
  • It watches your vendor quotas, not the Aepto API, and uses no AI credits.

How do you add an Additional Monitoring Component?

Four steps from Add Monitoring in the app.

  1. 01

    Choose the type

Open Add Monitoring, then pick API Endpoint, IP Address, Additional Domain or Sub-domain, Port-Based Service or API Rate Limits.

  2. 02

    Set the check

Enter the URL or host, then the interval, timeout and monitoring regions.

  3. 03

    Pick who is alerted

Choose alert contacts, and for API quotas add contacts with the API Rate Limits notification type or a webhook for api_rate_limits events.

  4. 04

    Watch the result

Uptime, response time and incidents appear next to your domain monitors.

Alerts can go to webhooks, DNS monitoring covers the domains themselves, and the MCP server can list and check monitors from chat.

Common questions

Short answers to what people ask before they start.

What are Additional Monitoring Components?

They are monitors for things that are not one of your portfolio domains: an API endpoint, an IP address, an extra domain or sub-domain, or a port-based service. They run uptime checks with their own interval, timeout, regions and alert contacts.

What is port monitoring in Aepto?

A Port-Based Service component checks that a service port on a host is reachable. It has its own interval, timeout, regions and alert contacts, and counts against your extra-monitor limit.

How many Additional Monitoring Components does each plan include?

Free includes 5, Starter 10, Professional 50, Business 150 and Agency 500. Enterprise is unlimited.

What is third-party API quota monitoring?

It watches the rate limits of APIs you use, such as Stripe, HubSpot, Shopify and GitHub, and alerts before a quota runs out. It tracks your vendor quotas, not the limits of the Aepto API.

Is API quota monitoring available on the Free plan?

No. Third-party API quota monitoring starts on the Starter plan. Free includes 5 extra monitors for API, IP, port and sub-domain checks.

Does Content Monitoring work on additional components?

No. Content Monitoring is for domain monitors. Additional components use uptime checks and can send optional slow-response alerts.

Does API quota monitoring use AI credits?

No. Quota probes do not use AI credits.
